How Much Hosting Storage, Websites and Email Capacity Do I Need? Print

Quick answer: Add current website files, databases and email usage, then choose the smallest plan that covers every hard limit with reasonable growth space. A larger disk allowance does not create dedicated CPU or RAM.

Measure before choosing

  1. Websites: count production websites, sub-projects that require separate installations and planned launches. A plan limited to one website cannot host a second independent site.
  2. Website storage: measure files, uploads, themes, plugins and databases. Large image libraries and backups stored inside the account consume space quickly.
  3. Email: count required mailboxes and measure retained messages and attachments. Email and website data may share the same storage allocation.
  4. Growth: allow practical headroom rather than ordering a plan that is already nearly full.

Limits that storage does not solve

Shared hosting remains a shared-resource environment. Sustained high traffic, intensive ecommerce, background workers, custom server software, dedicated CPU/RAM or root-level control require a VPS assessment even when a shared plan has enough disk space.

Backup planning

Do not count a backup stored inside the same hosting account as independent protection. Provider-managed backup is included only where the selected product explicitly says so; otherwise maintain a separate, tested copy or choose an optional backup service.

Kwa kifupi: Jumlisha matumizi ya files, database na email, kisha acha nafasi ya ukuaji. Storage kubwa pekee haimaanishi CPU/RAM maalum.
