Website Migration to DUHosting: Client Checklist (Zero Downtime) Print

Summary

This checklist helps you migrate from another hosting provider to DUHosting with minimal downtime.

Before Migration

• Confirm domain login access (registrar/client area)

• Get old hosting:

  • cPanel backup (files + database)

  • Email accounts list + passwords (or plan to reset)

• Reduce DNS TTL (if possible) to 300 seconds before switching

Migration Steps

1. Upload website files to DUHosting (File Manager / FTP)

2. Import database (phpMyAdmin)

3. Update configuration file (DB name/user/password)

4. Test site using temporary URL or hosts file

5. Move DNS:

   • Change nameservers OR update A record to DUHosting server IP

6. Verify:

   • Website loads

   • Emails work

   • SSL installed

Common Mistakes

• Moving DNS before site is fully uploaded

• Forgetting email accounts (then mail bounces)
